Boniface Mwangi is a fearless activist, award-winning photojournalist, and social justice advocate from Kenya. He is best known for his relentless fight against corruption, human rights violations, and governance failures. Through his work, he has been arrested, assaulted, and even survived an attempted attack on his home, yet he remains steadfast in his mission. As the founder of Brave Media, an independent civic journalism platform, he continues to expose social injustices, empower citizen journalists, and amplify the voices of marginalized communities. His work is a testament to the power of activism and storytelling in shaping democratic change.

 

Beyond journalism, Boniface Mwangi has played a crucial role in mobilizing grassroots movements and leveraging creative activism, often referred to as artivism, to push for accountability. He founded PAWA254, Kenya’s leading art and activism hub, where artists and activists collaborate to drive social transformation. His impact extends globally, with numerous prestigious awards, including the CNN Multichoice African Photojournalist of the Year and recognition by Time Magazine as a Next Generation Leader.
